5 EXERCISES TO TONE AND SCULPT THE ARMS

How-to-Tone-Your-Arms

Having fit and toned body is a sign of healthy exterior as well as the interior. When exercising, we tend to focus on bulking up the abdominal muscles to achieve the six-pack look, or we simply target the gluteal muscles to firm up the behind. What does a six-pack or bubble butt help one achieve when the arms remain loose? To avoid such imbalance, here in this article you will find five quick and easy exercises that will help you sculpt the arms.

1. Push-ups for Triceps
The push-up exercise is a quick and easy workout that will help you tone not only your shoulders, and triceps, but also pectoral muscles, in other words, you chest Continue reading

How to Get a Flatter Stomach Today

flatstomach

When wanting to get a flatter stomach, two important things must be kept in mind. These two elements are diet and exercise. The best way to get a flatter stomach which you have always wanted is to combine these two, which are the basis and foundation of any healthy fat loss program you may encounter.
When dieting, it is best to keep the carbohydrate intake low. This is the best way to lose belly fat quickly. Another important factor to keep in mind is to keep your diet with a negative calorie intake as much as possible. This means that the calories that you take in must be less than that of the calories that you consume. Another way to help get rid of belly fat quickly is to eat smaller meals at a more frequently. This is much better than eating big meals at fewer times in a day. This is because when you eat smaller meals, your body will be able to digest the food that you eat much easier, and will reduce the amount of fat that is stored in your body. Remember that it is also much better to get your fat and carbohydrate requirements for the day earlier during the day so that it will be burned more quickly than if you take them in the evening.

Aside from dieting, exercise is also one of the best ways to get rid of belly fat and get a flatter stomach. An essential thing to keep in mind is to incorporate cardiovascular exercise into your everyday routine workout. Make sure that you also exercise those abdominal muscles by doing crunches, obliques, or sit ups. Another thing that you can incorporate into your exercise routine is weight lifting, which is another great way to lose those unwanted fats. This is also quite enjoyable especially for those who love interacting with other people since you can lift weights mostly at the gym. There will be many types of light weights that will be suitable especially for women who want to lose their belly fat. Make sure that when you are lifting weights, you get to exercise other parts of your body as well so that your shape will Continue reading

Summer ready Gams

I am not one who “tans”, or lays out in the sun. Even when I have the opportunity, I get bored, and annoyed by the constant fight with my sunglasses and the sun in my eyes, while I try to catch up on my magazine reads.  Is this just me?.. Not to mention, I lay on the SPF like a freak show, so what’s the point really? I totally dig my self tanners, so I’m over it anyway. The reason I’m writing is to hopefully help you get as comfortable as I am, with your SPF + “fake-tan”, groove. Let’s face it, it’s so much better for you! I’m not saying you can’t enjoy yourself outside, or hang on the beach with your friends, because you absolutely can, and still look amazing!

Here is my tip.

After a nice exfoliating shower (& shave), dry off and grab the self tanner. My recommendations are St.Tropez, or a tanning towel of some sort. Apply liberally all over your body, (don’t forget the tops of your feet and hands). Let soak in and dry for at least a minute, and then apply moisturizer. Be sure to use circular motions to avoid streaking.  Pay extra attention to areas commonly missed, like around your wrists, on the inside of your arms, back of the legs, and around your ankles. I then, take a baby wipe and lightly wipe the areas that tend to get a little too tan, like the elbows, knees, between finger and toes, around your ankles,  and the palms of your hands. Sometimes I even hit those areas with extra moisturizer, after.

If you are wearing shorts, a skirt / dress, or heading to the beach, reach for a  shimmering lotion to blur any imperfections, and to make your legs look extra magnificent! My favorites include, Tarte Cosmetics Maracuja Rainforest Glow Instant Matte Waterproof Body Perfector (the name is way too long, I know), and Pacifica’s Coconut Crushed Pearl bronzing body butter. I like these two because they have a little color to them, a nice soft scent, and don’t leave your legs too bright or glittery. I also, like the Sally Hansen spray.  Use caution if you choose go the spray route, because it is extra messy. Best to apply spray in the shower ( when you are dry ) to avoid getting it all over your floors, and anything else that may be close by.  Allow the product to fully soak in before getting dressed, and make sure to wash any excess product from your hands before getting dressed as well.

Voila, gorgeous gams!

Notes for a New Year

It’s a new year, January is the month of new beginnings. Things are suppose to be new and fresh and exciting all over again. What I love about a “new year” is that, it means only a few months left of yucky snow (Michigan life), and it’s totally appropriate to wear white jeans again (I took about a month off), even though the whole “no white after Labor Day” rule is dunzo.  I mean, I’m even sick of black this, and black that, when black is pretty much my favorite “non-color” besides white. Wink wink!.. I’m ready for pastels and all white everything! There are however, a few things I’m not ready to let go of/ would like to see go for 2014…

1. My obsession with Leather/ Faux-Leather pants. I can’t get over it just yet. Besides the fact I want to wear them every day, and it’s not technically “spring” here until late April. Let’s not forget I suffer from having issues with people “seeing me in the same thing twice disease”. So this is tricky, but I’m still addicted. I’ll try the leather shorts with tights now, between my hot ass leather pencil skirt and leather and faux leather pants,  through spring. However, I find it very unpractical to wear leather shorts in the summer.  I’ll suffer for fashion, but pain and sweat are totally different monsters. Am I wrong?! It grosses me out! Not to mention, other options that are more desirable such as, my black sequin Zara shorts, from 4 years ago are way hotter anyway, and not in the sweaty kind of “hot” either…

2. Oxford loafers… Where did these ugly things come from? Were designers so cornered with coming up with a stylish flat that they sold themselves short for this style?! And thirsty fashonista reporter type wannabe’s. accepted them, for lack of a fashionable voice of their own (heaven forbid). I mean there are one type of woman where this looks good on, and it’s not me honey. Not hating, they are just NOT sexy, on this type of female. At all. Period. They have to go. I’m sorry, I’m not sorry. I hate them.

3. I am soooooo happy pointed toe shoes are in again, (minus any platform). Words can not explain. I always hated the stripper platform shoes, that have been popular in recent years. The fact that some still designers are still coming out with these styles with the stripper platform is beyond me. I’ll  be straight up when I say, there must a lot of “inner strippers”, in some rich bitches in the suburbs or here there and everywhere, because this style is still out there. Or maybe a lot of risqué gals who married up, continue to buy the shoes thus encouraging these designers to come out with more of the less glam style. They are gross (the stripper esque shoes). No one wears them appropriately. They have to G.O…

5. Flats in general I have a hard time with. Heels are just plain sexier! It’s so hard to find a cute flat if you are below “supermodel height”. Unless, of course you are in full on Lulu Lemon headed to a workout class in your neon tenni’s, but even that is hard to pull off past the grocery store, post workout..

6. Take care of your skin in the winter months.  Winter months are especially hard on your hair and skin. This time of year takes a huge toll on your skin, hair, and nails. Why you ask? Because, there is so little moisture in the air naturally,  and due to having the “heat on” in your home and in your car. Hot showers can even cause dry skin in winter months if you do not moisturize quick enough post shower, and properly. Read the ingredient list on your moisturizers. This is particularly important in winter months. Stay away from cheap moisturizers with alcohol in the ingredient list, or petroleum, or mineral oil. My favorite winter moisturizer in the winter is raw coconut oil. Plain and simple. It’s good for you, and your whole family inside and out. It’s free of excess garbage found in most main stream “moisturizers”, and you can use it head to toe. Not only do I cook with it, I use it as a hair masque, face/body moisturizer, cuticle oil, and spread it on toast all in the same day. My young son and I have sensitive skin, and this is the only thing that doesn’t sting, and delivers results. LOVE!

6.  As far as your face,  clean & soft makeup with a bright bold lip are a DO. Don’t get caught up in the whole high-light/contour fad. It’s great for professional Makeup Artists, and nights out when you may get photographed, but it doesn’t always translate on the everyday. Especially if you are attempting the look and you are not a professionals makeup artist. Less really is more…

7. Nails, I love looking at all the fun nail art designs posted on social media, and I look forward to more in 2014. Almost everything goes, however, acrylic and (orange glow tan) is still a no… Not sorry.

8. I hope pastel hair stays cool for the young-in’s because I am obsessed, and not ready to let it go!  I personally can’t pull it off because, I’m not that cool, I’m a mom and turning 30 this year. Let’s keep that gorgeous trend for the 25 and below crowd. I love seeing the photos!

9.  Boots. I love them, and they are cool year ’round. For a more summer boot, go for a perforated style that’s sued and/ or, peep-toe, or both. Boot are sexy and cool year round. Check in to Pinterest, or your favorite fashion blog for style tips.

10. Layers.  Start with a well fitting tank, and choose which shoes/ boots you wish to sport for the day, and work your way from there. This is good until it’s too warm to layer. Personally, I’m a little over cardigans. As much as I love them, they don’t flatter anyone’s shape unless you belt them correctly and that can be more hassle then you set out for when looking for your outfit of the day. Blazers are a classic option, always look amazing and come off less sloppy than a cardigan, plus they flatter a womans shape more so than a cardigan. Don’t forget another layering option: Leather and fur/faux vests. A never fail in cold weather, and always a good layer option as well.

DVF11. Last but not least, words of fashion wisdom for 2014… Legging are something a lot of suburbanites and beyond swear by ( I am even, one myself) for day to day errands. However, try to limit the “legging look” to workouts and groceries. If you care to make a fashion impression, in the outside world, and if not disregard this piece of advice. Fashionista’s have condemned the look for an “all day” look since they (the leggings) resurrected themselves. As a fashion icon would say, “Feel like a woman, wear a dress”.  DVF

Basically, get up, and dress up! We are woman. It’s enough we have the world on our shoulders. Bur we also are lucky enough to have a cast of brilliant designers who have created lines just for us Women! Not just clothing designers, but makeup artists, hair stylists, and of course shoe designers who have broken grounds for the everyday girl to her her own, Liz Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, or her modern day Kate Moss.

This quote is what gets me motivated on those days where all I want to wear is my yoga attire and no-makeup. Ugh!!! Be sexy, and go get it,  every single day! Weather its under what you are wearing and you are the only one who knows,  or right there for everyone too see as a red lip, just give a little glam… For your sake, the woman you are, if not for anyone else.

Quotes by this iconic designer are extremely real and inspirational, for any woman.  I highly recommend looking up all her of words of wisdom. Dian Von Furstenberg is truly a woman’s woman.  Dian Von Furstenberg, is a true icon.

Happy New Year!

Guest Blogging

Hey guys it seems like my blog is getting some attention. I was asked to write a guest blog for a modeling and acting company on what I thought talent should wear when attending their castings, and trying to make that first impression on a casting director.

Here is the link to the One Source Talent Blog if you guys want to check it out. Let me know what you guys think in the comments bellow.

For People Looking To Become Models

I wrote a post back in September about One Source Talent being the #1 talent services company for 2013.

Since then, I have gotten a lot of questions about the company. How they operate, are they legit, do they actually find work for models/actors, etc.

So I decided to do a little follow-up blog post detailing some more information about the company to help some of you make your decision about going in for a free consultation.

Enjoy!

Yesterday One Source Talent posted this video, and it should help answer some of your questions about modeling. It’s about a girl named Lauren who came to the company a few years back, and is now doing big things in the modeling world. Awesome story and some great advice for models.

check it out:

or watch Lauren’s One Source Talent Review on YouTube

Lauren went into One Source with no experience, and no idea what her life was about to turn into. Now she’s signed to a major modeling agency in Chicago, does a lot of fashion modeling, and is doing quite well for a young girl of her age.

I dug up some more information about the company just for the curious there are a few links below to help you out.

OST Social Media Sites:

One Source Talent Twitter – The company posts tips and advice for aspiring models and actors on their Twitter page daily. They also post interviews with their talent, and success stories from their talent.

One Source Talent YouTube – OST has been posting clips of movies and television whose that their talent have appeared on. They have more recently been posting videos of tips and advice for models and actors, though. It’s progressively becoming a better resource for models and actors.

OST Company Profiles:

One Source Talent LinkedIn – This is the companies Linked In account, it’s an overview of the company, their mission, how they started, etc. If you’re looking for information about One Source and how they started, this is a great place to find it.

One Source Talent Crunch Base – Again, this is a company profile very similar to LinkedIn, another great resource for company information.

One Source Talent Inc5000 – The company has been nominated as an Inc5000 companies since 2008, so that should say something about their reputation, as their headquarters is in Michigan they have placed top 100 (#77) of Inc5000’s top Detroit Metro Area companies.

All in all, they are a wonderful company with a lot of resources for aspiring talent, so be sure to take advantage of those resources just like the girl in the video did. Also, if you want to know more about the company and the people behind the company I highly recommend checking out the company profile pages I linked to. It will help give a clearer description of who they are and what they do and how they can help you out.

How to get your child into modeling

Being a parent I have always been told that I should involve my child into modeling or acting. After doing some thinking I figured I would give it a shot and do some research and share with you guys what I found. If you live anywhere but LA it is a little harder for you to find a job for you child since the markets are not as big.

The first thing you are going to have to do is to find a reputable agency that is willing to work with your child. Some people will tell you to go to the BBB website and look at the company ratings but that can be a little misleading since the BBB will not always be truthful about the company that they have reviews on. Take your time and do your research on your own, don’t believe sites such as BBB, Yelp and other review sites because they are misleading sometimes, if you can go check out the agency and make the choice once you do so.

Once you have found a few agencies that you think might fit your child the best, take a few photos of your kid or if you can afford to hire a professional photographer. Take several head shorts and dress your child in bright clothes and clothes that will best represent their personality. Once you have the photos it is time to create a comp card, a comp card is a marketing tool for actors and especially models. They serve as the latest and best of a model’s portfolio and are used as a business card. Once you have the comp card it is time to mail them out to the modeling agencies that you chose.

The most important thing now is to wait and be patient, do not get discouraged if your child did not get called in. Keep in mind that the agency gets thousands of requests per month. In the mean time you can submit your child to individual jobs on your own just so your child can gain some experience.

I hope that this article answered some of the questions about how to get your child into modeling.
